About Private Jet Travel To Cuba

Travel To Cuba

by Nelima Kerre

After 54 years, 6 months and 17 days, the U.S. and Cuban embassies re-opened on Monday, July 20th.

We have had several inquiries regarding private travel to Cuba since the announcement of the loosening some of the embargos between the United States and Cuba late late last year. Although Cuba remains the only country in the world off-limits to U.S. tourists, in January 2015, President Barack Obama expanded the categories of authorized travel to Cuba.

1. The United States government has no problem with American citizens traveling to Cuba for any of the following 12 reasons:

  • visits to close relatives
  • official business of the U.S. government, foreign governments, and certain intergovernmental organizations
  • journalistic activities
  • professional research and professional meetings
  • educational activities
  • religious activities
  • public performances, clinics, workshops, athletic and other competitions, and exhibitions
  • support for the Cuban people
  • humanitarian projects
  • activities of private foundations or research or educational institutes
  • exportation, importation, or transmission of information or information materials
  • certain authorized export transactions

2. Americans still cannot travel to Cuba for tourism.

3. Until the U.S. Department of Transportation comes to an agreement with the Cuban government, U.S. airlines are unable to offer direct flights or package connecting routes to Cuba. This agreement is not expected to happen for a while.

4. At one time there were extensive forms that needed to be filled out to obtain a special license from the Treasury Department but that is no longer necessary, only the charter companies need to have special documentation.

As an example, the cost for a round trip on a 30 passenger plane from South Florida would be approximately $19,000 to $22,000. At the moment Cuba charges a $250 per person landing fee that is not included in this price. So if you have a full plane with 30 passengers this would be an additional $7,500.

5. We can also arrange luxurious flights in 7 to 14 passenger jets if you want the truly private jet experience.

Please feel free to give us a call at 1.877.FLY.1101 if you have any questions regarding travel to Cuba or private jet charter to any other location around the globe.

On Your Mark, Jet-Set, Super Bowl!

NFL, SuperBowl XLIX, Arizona, Seattle SuperHawks, New England Patriots, PlaneClear

by Nelima Kerre

America’s biggest sport is around the corner. This is the busiest game-related travel period and hundreds of luxury jets will arrive at the eight airports around metropolitan Phoenix by kickoff Sunday, adding to the thousands of flights expected over the weekend.

When Arizona last hosted the Super Bowl in 2008 (which coincided with the end of the Phoenix Open Golf Tournament), they had a mess on their hands with departures. This time round, they have teamed up with the FAA to better manage air traffic through the requirement of reservations from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2 for arrivals and departures to airports in the region.

As of Tuesday Jan. 27, Scottsdale had 868 reservations for the weekend. Space is tight, but we still have availability for flights from NE, SE, the Midwest, Northern California and Southern California.

The Journey is Half the Fun. Arrive at the Super Bowl in Luxurious Style.

Snow Storms & Private Jet Alternatives

Winter Storm Juno, Private Jets

by Nelima Kerre

Snowstorms are an air traveler’s nightmare. Flights are delayed and/or cancelled. After the storm has passed, airlines and airports take days to recover. Nearly 8,000 flights were cancelled due to Winter Storm Juno . As of 11:45 am Wednesday Jan 28th 2015,  FlightAware was reporting 558 delays and 650 cancellations within, into or out of the United States. Of the cancellations, 108 were departing from Boston Logan Intl, 106 from La Guardia, 74 from JFK Intl and 54 from Newark Intl.

Extreme weather affect both public and private aviation as private aviation ascribes to the same FAA safety rules as commercial airlines. However, once the storm subsides private aviation is able to rebound much faster because private jets can access 10 times more airports than commercial airlines. Private airports become functional much quicker because they are smaller and have less snow to be removed. Private jets are also more flexible in terms of departure times and a flight can be organized a mere two hours before take off.

In the last 2 days we have taken more requests than usual as well as booked a significantly higher number flights within, into or out of the U.S. For advice and help with booking flights feel free to contact us at 1.877.359.1101 or request a quote through our website and one of the members of our Flight Team will be most happy to assist you.

Tips For Your Holiday Private Jet Travel

Holiday Travel

by Nelima Kerre

It’s that time of the year again! Private aviation travel peaks from Thanksgiving through the second week of January with an estimated 90% of private jet travelers travelling at least once during this period.  Private air charter requests are already on the rise and will increase over 70%.

Come snow or sun, here’s how to go about booking your holiday private air travel:

  1. Book your flight early.  During the winter months, the FAA requires us to reserve airport slots for your departures and arrivals for Aspen, Eagle, Rifle and other mountain airports. The increase in demand means that landing slots at these popular destinations will become limited.
  2. Be flexible.  You can avoid extra costs or the need for a landing slot by choosing smaller airports over busy ones such as Los Angeles International (LAX), New York John F. Kennedy International (JFK), and Chicago O’Hare (ORD). Also, you can increase the number of flights available to you by being flexible with your choice of aircraft .
  3. Choose the right provider. Anyone can be a jet charter broker so it’s important to ask the right questions before you sign a contract. An experienced broker is well versed on weather tracking, airport delays, pilot experience and knows how to find the right flight operators that prioritize safety and make sure that their aircraft are well maintained. PlaneClear delivers unprecedented transparent, impartial, personalized private aviation solutions with integrity and dependability.  Our customers receive unparalleled access to vital information in order to facilitate accurate and informed booking decisions.

The holidays are hectic enough, let PlaneClear take the chaos out of planning your holiday travel. Get your free, quick quote here.
